Facebook launches Organ Donor Tool to Timeline
Facebook recently announced the 'Organ Donor' option to Timeline to help people who needs a second life by just being an organ donor. This option can help people who needs life-saving kidney, eye, liver and other.
As Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg said on ABC News and as stated on AllFacebook:
Today, more than 114,000 people in the United States, and millions more around the globe, are waiting for the heart, kidney, or liver transplant that will save their lives. Many of those people — an average of 18 people per day — will die waiting, because there simply aren’t enough organ donors to meet the need. Medical experts believe that broader awareness about organ donation could go a long way toward solving this crisis. And we believe that by simply telling people that you’re an organ donor, the power of sharing and connection can play an important role.
To be an organ donor, all you have to do is go to your Facebook profile, and hover to Life Event and choose Health & Wellness, then pick Organ Donor.
A form will be shown and you need to enter some of the information. If you aren't an organ donor, a link was provided for appropriate registry. Registration to become an organ donor is only available only for those who lives in United States and United Kingdom as Help Center indicated.
