Microsoft Surface: Windows 8-powered Tablet Announced
Microsoft recently announced its own tablet, the Microsoft Surface that runs on their newest operating system Windows 8.
As VentureBeat reported, here is what Microsoft’s Windows head Steven Sinofsky said during the event:
“Just as we’ve reimagined Windows, we have a vision for the tablet. It’s a tablet that works and plays the way you want to — a tablet that’s a great PC, a PC that’s a great tablet … Surface is a stage for Windows.”
Microsoft Surface is about 9.33 millimeters thin, weighs just 1.5 pounds, with a 10.6-inch display. In runs on Windows RT, one of the flavors of Windows 8 that is perfect for devices running ARM chips. Reports also said that it’s the first PC with a magnesium case.
One of its unique feature/accessory is the cover slash keyboard. The cover is magnetic with an ultra-thin multitouch keyboard.

The Microsoft Surface tablet will come in 32 GB and 64 GB variants from $400 to $700.
